Hidden Gem Homestay in Castara, Tobago
A cozy countryside stay with rainforest views, village charm, and local experiences hosted by a warm and welcoming family.

If you’re searching for a hidden gem stay in Tobago, especially one that offers a true Castara homestay experience, this cozy Airbnb tucked above the fishing village of Castara is a standout.
Hosted by Aimee, an Airbnb Superhost, this accommodation blends comfort, practicality, and authentic island living. Bookings are made directly through Airbnb, and from arrival to departure, the care and attention to detail are unmistakable.

Cozy Comfort with Thoughtful Details
This homestay immediately invites rest. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the friendliest dogs and a breathtaking view overlooking Castara village and bay.

Inside, the space is warm and thoughtfully designed, with:
Two queen-sized beds that comfortably sleep four
Charging outlets everywhere, near each bed
Multiple cozy nooks for reading, resting, or remote work (and a furry friend or two to keep you company)
We took more naps than planned and truly felt at home.
On one cozy night in after the Thursday bonfire, we discovered board games in the supply cupboard, which made for a perfect low-key evening. They’re also ideal for rainy Tobago days when you’re happy to stay inside, listen to the rain, and unplug.
Wrap-Around Porch & Birdwatching Bliss
One of the most special features of this stay is the wrap-around porch, complete with birdfeeders that attract hummingbirds and other local species.
While having tea and watching the clouds roll in over the forest, I even spotted a White-tailed Sabrewing hummingbird, a rare and unforgettable moment for nature lovers and birdwatchers alike. It’s the kind of quiet magic that makes countryside Tobago so special.
Fully Equipped Kitchen for Homestay Living
This accommodation is perfect for travelers who don’t mind cooking and enjoy a slower pace. The modern, fully equipped kitchen has everything you need—just bring your groceries when checking in.
There is a minimart nearby, but options are limited, so it’s best to stock up before heading into the village.
Getting There & Transportation Tips
If you’re not driving a 4×4 vehicle, the road leading directly to the house may feel a bit technical, as it’s not fully completed. However, parking is available a short walk from the house and you can arrange transportation with the host for an easy check-in.
Once settled, the location feels peaceful, private, and deeply connected to nature.
Walkable Access to Little Bay
A major highlight is the short, scenic walking path from the property to Little Bay.
At this beach there is a front restaurant & bar, a dive shop where you can rent beach gear or book scuba dives as well as calm, swimmable waters ideal for relaxed beach days.
The property also has an outdoor shower for use on days if you explore some muddy trails and need to wash off.
Explore Tobago’s Countryside Like a Local
This Castara homestay is an excellent base for exploring Tobago’s lesser-known natural attractions, including:

Castara Village Vibes
Castara is a laid-back fishing village with strong community energy. While there are no ATMs nearby, many businesses accept cashless payments.
On the main bay, you’ll find a homemade ice cream spot, a local bar and limited but authentic food options, usually between the hours of 10am and 4pm with some dinner options between 7pm and 10pm.
When to Book ‘Hidden Gem’ & Why
This stay has a two-night minimum at $600 TTD per night.
We recommend booking Wednesday to Saturday (or Sunday) to enjoy the weekly Thursday night bonfire,
a variety of local street food vendors, and a more social village atmosphere.
